In 2015, the First National Competition of Classical, Neoclassical and Contemporary Dance was born in Venezuela, as an initiative of the BrayBallet Dance Academy, which took place in the City of Mérida, Venezuela and had the participation of more than 330 dancers in its first edition.

On that occasion, it had juries of the stature of Pablo Chiossone, Rumen Rashev, Patricia Fiorucci, Carlos Paolillo and dance professionals such as Blanca Yajure, Carmen Vercelli, Carolina Avendano, Martha Ildiko, Oswaldo Garcia, Vanessa Lozano, offering various workshops to all event participants. Dancers from countless Venezuelan Academies took part.

After this first extraordinary experience, Pura Danza repeated its offer in the same space, City of Mérida, Venezuela in the years 2016, 2017 and 2018, increasing, year after year, the number of participants and academies until reaching more than 600 in its last face-to-face edition, suprassing 1500 talented dancers in its stages.

In this year 2019, Pura Danza offered two international editions: one in the city of Mérida, Venezuela from May 21 to 26 and the second in the city of Cali, Colombia from October 9 to 12. Both editions enjoyed a resounding success which challenged them to prepare for the 2020 edition totally out of the ordinary.

However, with the appearance of the Covid-19 Virus that turned the world upside down, it was not possible to offer our participants the long-awaited face-to-face event. Despite this, the Organización Pura Danza did not allow this situation to obscure its desire to reaches the public with which it forged close ties, but decided to offer the alternative of a totally On-Line competition, where the participation of the dancers was received. Through videos prepared by them and which were presented to the public through the YouTube platform during the month of October 2020. It had the participation of dancers from various countries such as Peru, Mexico, Chile, Costa Rica, Colombia, Venezuela and juries of international stature, as in all its previous versions.

This great experience has inspired Pura Danza to repeat its live competition during the month of July 2021 with the ambition to reach all corners of the world.
